What does an asphalt paving contractor do?
An asphalt paving contractor builds the base, then lays and rolls hot mix asphalt over it. Trinity Paving and Concrete does that for driveways, private roads and parking lots. We also resurface, sealcoat, patch and stripe asphalt, and we pour concrete and build gravel driveways and retaining walls.
What area do you serve?
We are based in Dixon and work about 40 miles around it. That covers Solano County, Yolo County and the Sacramento side of the valley. Vacaville, Fairfield, Davis, Woodland, Sacramento, Elk Grove, Vallejo and Benicia all sit inside that range. If your job is near the edge, call or text and ask.
How does pricing work?
We price each job after we see it. Size and the condition of the base drive the price, along with any tear-out and haul-off. Thickness and slope matter too, and so does access to the site. Call or text (707) 396-7730, and the quote comes to you in writing.
Should my driveway be asphalt or concrete?
Both work on valley driveways when the base under them is built right. Asphalt gets crack sealing and sealcoating as it ages, and it can take an overlay over a sound base. Concrete gets control joints and a broom finish that grips when wet. We do both, so you can compare written quotes for asphalt and for a concrete driveway.
Can my driveway be repaired, or does it need replacing?
Cracks and potholes in a sound driveway can be sealed and patched, and a worn surface can take an overlay. Alligator-cracked areas and sunken spots need more: asphalt repair cuts them out and rebuilds the base. When most of the drive has failed, replacement makes more sense. We tell you which one fits after we see it.
Do you pave parking lots for businesses, churches and HOAs?
Yes. Commercial paving covers lots at offices, apartments, shops, churches and farm yards. We can pave a lot in sections so the business stays open. New striping goes on after the paving, including ADA stalls and their access aisles.
Do you pave long rural driveways and farm roads?
Yes. We pave long driveways and shared private roads, including farm and orchard roads across Solano and Yolo counties. The road base goes down in compacted lifts, and turnouts and culverts can be part of the job. An existing gravel road can be paved with hot mix, or a new gravel drive built to pave later.
Do I need a permit for a driveway or a retaining wall in Dixon?
Work in the public right-of-way, like a driveway apron at the street, needs an encroachment permit from Dixon's Engineering Department. A retaining wall needs a building permit once it tops 4 feet, measured from the bottom of the footing. A shorter wall needs one too when it holds up a driveway or a sloping bank. Other towns and the counties set their own rules, so check with the permit office for your address.
How does the weather around Dixon affect paving?
NOAA's climate normals for nearby Davis put most of the year's rain between November and March. Summers are close to dry, with July highs in the 90s. We schedule sealcoating ahead of the winter rain, and cracks get sealed before water can reach the base. Paving days follow the weather.
